What is IDPwD About?
International Day of People With Disabilities (IDPwD) falls on the 3rd December each year since it was proclaimed in 1992 by the United Nations General Assembly Resolution 47/3. The purpose is to promote an understanding of disability issues, celebrate achievements by the disability community and encourage support for the dignity and rights of people with disabilities.
While IDPwD traditionally falls on the 3rd December many celebrations range through the week before and after this date.
What is the 2020 IDPwD Theme?
For 2023 the theme set by the United Nations is “United in action to rescue and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for, with and by persons with disabilities”
