All attendees, speakers, sponsors and volunteers at OZeWAI online or partner events are required to agree with the following code of conduct.
Organisers will enforce this code throughout the event. We expect cooperation from all participants to help ensure a safe environment for everybody.
The OZeWAI is dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of gender, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, or religion. We do not tolerate harassment of participants in any form. Sexual language and imagery is not appropriate at any event, including talks, workshops, social events, or online via forums and social media. Event participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the event, and refused entry to further events, without a refund at the discretion of the conference organisers.
This Code of Conduct applies to all people who attend the Australian Accessibility Conference and other OZeWAI online or partner events, including:
- Registered attendees
- Invited guests
- Workshop presenters
- Conference staff
- Exhibitors and advertisers
Harassment includes offensive and/or discriminatory verbal comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion, and/or technology choices.
Harassment also includes unacceptable physical behaviour such as violence, intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention.
Speakers, workshop presenters, sponsors, exhibitors and advertisers should not use sexualised images, activities, or other material likely to breach accepted community standards of decency. Staff (including volunteers) should not use sexualised clothing, uniforms and/or costumes, or otherwise create a sexualised environment. Any doubts about what is considered acceptable should be clarified with conference organisers before the event.
Participants asked to stop any harassing behaviour are expected to comply immediately. Failure to comply may result in immediate expulsion from the event without compensation or refund. Conference organisers will call on event security and/or law enforcement personnel when needed to enforce this policy.
What to do
If you are being harassed at the Australian Accessibility Conference, or you become aware that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns about someone’s behaviour, please contact a member of conference staff immediately. Conference staff can be identified as they’ll be wearing branded name badges and details will be shared to all attendees by email. Unacceptable behaviour can also be drawn to conference organisers’ attention by emailing email@example.com, if preferred.
As needed, conference staff will help participants contact hotel/venue security or local law enforcement, provide escorts, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the conference. We value your attendance.
We expect all participants at the Australian Accessibility Conference and OZeWAI online or partner events to read, accept and agree to comply with this Code of Conduct.
