What is it?
OZeWAI is the Australian Web Accessibility Initiative, which is a strong and established group of members. OZeWAI is proud to provide a valuable source of information on accessibility issues and ideas to the broader community.
PWAC is the Perth Web Accessibility Camp, which has been running since 2013 to educate and inform the West Australian web community about all aspects of digital accessibility. It is run by members of the Perth Web Accessibility Meetup group.
In 2020 the Australian Accessibility Conference will bring together the most knowledgeable digital accessibility experts, specialists and researchers from all over the world, as well as leaders in the industry, government and non-profit organisations to explore and support digital inclusion topics and ideas.

Content creators, content designers, UX designers, researchers, educators, managers, procurement officers, legal experts and of course … accessibility professionals.

The Early Bird special is over, but tickets for the whole conference, individual days, and workshops are still available.
The cost for attending the Conference is $100 for each of the three days, $300 in total. You can choose to attend one, two or all three of the Conference days. Registrants will then be offered the option to sign up for workshops if there are still places remaining (20 places per workshop).
You can also now book to attend one or both of the Conference dinners, at a cost of $60 per person per dinner.
And to top things off, you can also sign up to undertake one of two International Association of Accessibility Professionals exams on offer: Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies or Web Accessibility Specialist. CPACC is IAAP’s foundational certification, while WAS requires at least an intermediate level of detailed technical knowledge. Payment for these exams will be handled by IAAP, but you can express your interest now to be sure of a place. Find out more about the exams on the IAAP website.

Workshop
This year we are hosting a workshop on mobile accessibility testing from Gian Wild the day before the conference. You can learn about mobile testing concepts and methods, and get hands-on experience in using the newest test processes.
There will also be mini-workshops held during the conference. They’re free for conference attendees, but registration is essential so we can manage numbers.

Speakers
Vithya Vijayakumare
Vithya is the Digital Accessibility Consultant at VisAbility. Part of Vithya’s role is to ensure websites, social media, videos, documents and audio materials are accessible to all users, including people with disabilities. Vithya provides various accessibility training and consultation which includes providing standards and guidelines on how to create accessible videos/podcast, social media, websites and document auditing/remediation (PDF/Word/EPUB3). She has presented at several disability conferences and events on various digital accessibility topics (OzeWAI, PWAC, National Disability Service (NDS) WA Conference, GAAD). With a Professional Certification in Web Accessibility, Masters of Innovation Technologies from ECU, specialising in multimedia, sound design and 3D Surround Sound, Vithya has developed a great passion for digital accessibility and inclusive publishing. OZeWAI attendees are eligible to book at a discount rate. This discount is available until 7 days before the conference. You will need to use a credit card to complete the booking, and will be charged for any cancellations less than 30 days before the conference.

The Perth Festival (home page has autoplaying video) is on from 7th February to 1st March. It has arts, comedy and social events which are a great way to see some of Perth while you are here. They have an Access Guide available in multiple formats and are committed to showcasing artists with disability as well as making as many events as possible barrier-free for audiences.

Transport
Crown Perth have a shuttle bus which travels in constant rotation from their premises to Burswood Station. Victoria Park Station is a short 50 metre walk from our building and is only one stop away from Burswood Station on the Thornlie Line. A train fare of $2.20 will still have to be paid each way unless you are a concession card holder ($1.00), or have a travel pass for free travel. Please note that interstate travel pass holders will have to obtain a temporary travel pass through Transperth. You can call them on 136213 for further information.
Other transport options are available via the Perth transport trip planner. Parking at the venue is limited, but there is parking across the road at the train station and a convenient drop-off/pick-up point at the entrance.

Grants
OZeWAI has received a grant from the National Disability Conference Initiative to support people with a disability from anywhere in Australia, to participate in person or online in the OZeWAI Conference in February 2020. OZeWAI will contribute to attendance-related expenses and will offer improved online real-time access. More details will be shared once the conference registration form is published.
