NOTE: Pillars have underlying specific projects, goals and activities. Specific work and status on the activity actions are tracked in a Strategic Plan Actions spreadsheet for Committee management and status details.

Pillar 1: Members and Community

The Members and Community pillar focuses on fostering a robust, interconnected network of digital accessibility professionals and advocates.
It aims to increase the recognition of OZeWAI to support those who may be alone or in small teams and continue to build structured guidance for teams that are growing.

Goal 1.1: Increase membership

Clearly define and strategically promote membership benefits to increase membership to 100 members by 2026 renewal and 150 by 2027 renewal.

Goal 1.2: Provide members-only resources

Increase members’ access to resources in a central knowledge base.

Goal 1.3: Increase membership engagement

Encourage members to contribute and collaborate on OZeWAI resources and projects.

Pillar 2: Expertise

The Expertise pillar focuses on defining, cultivating, and sharing high-quality advice to ensure that “good accessibility” is clearly understood and consistently practiced across the industry.

Goal 2.1: Digital accessibility professional verification

OZeWAI knows what makes a quality professional in digital accessibility, what their development journey is, and can help with recruitment and verification.

Goal 2.2: Professional members development

Develop the process to ensure OZeWAI is the governing body of digital accessibility professionals.

Pillar 3: Financial Viability

The Financial Viability pillar focuses on building a sustainable and resilient foundation for OZeWAI. As a volunteer-led not-for-profit, this pillar ensures we have the governance, funding, and operational discipline to support our mission and strategic goals over the long term.

Goal 3.1: Financial policies and procedures

OZeWAI has documented policies and a review process as outlined by the Consumer Affairs Victoria’s requirements for Incorporated Associations.

Goal 3.2: Investigate grant and funding opportunities

OZeWAI has a list and a process to apply for relevant grant and funding opportunities that align with strategic goals, projects and activities.

Pillar 4: Advocacy

The Advocacy pillar focuses on our role as a leading voice for digital accessibility in Australia, ensuring that accessibility is prioritised by government, industry, and the broader community.

Goal 4.1: Being visible and active

OZeWAI is recognised as providing quality and consistent guidance and advice on the advancement of digital accessibility, and is the known organisation for public advocacy and messaging.

Goal 4.2: Partnership and collaborations

OZeWAI demonstrates how to collaborate in an accessible way on projects run by OZeWAI or in partnership with project collaborators.

Pillar 5: Actively Innovative

The Actively Innovative pillar is about pushing boundaries, supporting new ideas, and driving the structural changes necessary to make the digital world more inclusive.

Goal 5.1: Support innovative projects relevant for digital accessible

OZeWAI provides an avenue to collaborate and promote innovative projects that are relevant for People with Disability and which provide structural change to advance the knowledge of digital accessibility.

Goal 5.2: Drive change that is accessible

OZeWAI is active in promoting the change of accessible innovative ideas.
